Two dead in 605 Freeway crash in Norwalk

Two people were killed when a car crashed into a tree off the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway in Norwalk, authorities said Monday.

A witness first reported the crash to the California Highway Patrol at 11:04 p.m. Sunday and it was reported that the car hit a tree on the Firestone Boulevard off-ramp. A subsequent notation on the CHP's online log indicated the crash was on the freeway.

Two people died at the scene, CHP Officer Sergio Garcia told City News Service. Their ages and genders were not immediately available.

The Firestone Boulevard off-ramp and lanes 3 and 4 of the 605 were shut down for the investigation and clean-up.
