Debra Gillett Jay

April 4, 1952 - January 6, 2025

Born on April 04, 1952 to Don and Margaret Gillett. Deb was raised with her two siblings Don and Denise in Norwalk, CA. When she was little, she was a Daddy’s girl, but as she grew older, she became her Mom’s best friend. Deb attended Excelsior Highschool where she was in Cheerleading and was the Homecoming Queen. She graduated class of 1970. That same year, Deb met Ross Tiner on Thanksgiving at a party. They dated 2.5 years before being married on April 27, 1973 at a courthouse in Las Vegas. During their engagement, Deb worked at the Bank of California counting change for the school districts. Ross and Debra bought their first home in La Mirada, CA Christmas of 1972. Their first child Aaron was born October 28, 1974 and second son Jarrod, born November 4, 1977. Deb was not a morning person but found joy in taking long baths. She made up for lazy mornings by being very active in the afternoon and evenings. She was an amazing artist, cook and seamstress. Deb was a den mother for cub scouts and a part of the PTA. She enjoyed many family trips to Lake Isabella, Lake Shasta, Big Bear, San Francisco and the River. In 1994, Deb met her best friend, Barb. They had many family trips and solo trips together. After Ross and Debra divorced in 2000, Deb worked at Taylor Construction as a Secretary and had a Condo in Placentia. During this time, she attended her Highschool reunion, where she reunited with Chester Jay, sparking a romance that would last for all time! With the money from selling her condo, they built a house in Bullhead City, where Chester proposed on the deck with an airplane flying over them asking her to marry him. She said “YES! YES! YES!” and they married in Maui October 14, 2005. Debra lived a beautiful life, full of love, surrounded by family and friends that adore her. She loved to travel, but only Chester and Barb could ever get her to go anywhere! Deb was an incredible host, a thoughtful gift giver and amazing gift wrapper, and a talented artist. She was easy going, elegant, sexy, kind, funny, sweet and all around incredible. She cried easy and loved hard! Her fav thing to say when someone said “i love you” was “I love you more!” She truly will be forever missed!
