LA County librarian Skye Patrick honored with leadership award

Skye Patrick, County Librarian and CEO of LA County Library, has been named a recipient of the 2025 James Irvine Foundation Leadership Award, a prestigious honor recognizing individuals and organizations making a significant impact across California.
Patrick is one of seven awardees selected for their leadership in addressing critical issues such as equity in library services, Indigenous science and food sovereignty, Latina civic leadership, environmental justice, Black maternal health, and representation in entertainment. The award includes a $350,000 grant to support the recipients' ongoing efforts.
Under Patrick’s leadership, LA County Library has emerged as a national model for inclusive and innovative library services, expanding access for more than 10 million residents across Los Angeles County. Her initiatives have focused on breaking down barriers to library resources, fostering a sense of belonging, and ensuring that underserved communities have the tools they need to succeed.
