Norwalk vice mayor fined by ethics committee

NORWALK – Norwalk Vice Mayor Ana Valencia was fined by the state’s ethics agency for failing to file campaign statements mandated by the state of California.

The state’s Fair Political Practices Commission levied a $866 fine against Valencia in February.

According to the FPPC, Valencia and her campaign committees failed to file one semi-annual campaign statement; two pre-election campaign statements; and one 24-hour report.

The required filings were related to her 2018 campaign for the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified school board and 2020 run for Norwalk City Council.

The fines were listed as tier one offenses.

Valencia, a candidate for state Assembly, declined to comment.
