Tony Ayala: Let's keep moving Norwalk forward

Over the last five years, what has been my record on the Norwalk City Council?

1. Despite a pandemic, we expanded public safety and approved a $3.9 million plan that adds more city public safety officers, a second homeless-response team and a second Norwalk Enforcement Team of Sheriff’s deputies who are assigned to special enforcement.

a. What has been the result? Crime is declining in Norwalk. The number of part one crimes — considered the most serious — fell. The most significant reductions came in burglaries, which decreased by 43%”

2. Social Services were increased to help many of our most vulnerable.

a. We help feed 200-250 of our residents daily. Many of these meals are personally delivered to their homes. This was extremely helpful during the pandemic when that number was over 800.

b. Childcare Services providing assistance to nearly 400 families in our city.

3. Business development was crucial, as we now have five key commercial developments that will bring good jobs to our residents.

This is what a public service means — brings results! I made a lot of promises five years ago, and I kept my promises to you.

But now, the fight continues! I am ready to lead the effort to establish a new culture of ensuring that Norwalk money supports Norwalk businesses. In this way, we all win! From strong economic growth — to job creation for our residents — to a robust tax base that will help fund vital city services. Let’s get this done. On November 8th — Vote Tony Ayala for Norwalk City Council.
