Norwalk approves contract for Bicycle Master Plan development

NORWALK - Norwalk’s City Council approved a contract to Kittelson & Associates, Inc. on Tuesday, for professional engineering services to develop a comprehensive Norwalk Bicycle Master Plan (BMP).

Term of the contract runs from June 1 of this year through Feb. 28, 2022, with costs not to exceed $170,596.

The goal of the BMP would be to provide a safe, efficient, and connected network of bicycle facilities that residents and stakeholders can enjoy for a variety of purposes, while offering several co-benefits including the reduction of air pollution, easing congestion, and improving public health. It would also aid in identifying locations throughout the City to construct alternative urban pathways, including bike and walking paths and park trails.

The contract was approved unanimously.
