Norwalk at 58 confirmed cases of COVID-19

As of Wednesday evening, there are 58 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Norwalk.

At the time of writing, there have been 7530 cases across Los Angeles County, including 198 deaths.

Neighboring Downey continues to have one of the higher counts in the local area, at 84 with at least one confirmed fatality.

California Governor Gavin Newsome gave an update to the state’s coronavirus numbers on Wednesday, saying that there were 16,957 cases, 442 deaths, 2,714 hospitalized and 1,154 people in ICU state-wide, 30% of which who were identified as Hispanic, according to data related to race compiled by the state.

Later that evening, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti announced that all city and county parks would be closed on Easter Sunday.

This is a full park closure that will last until Monday.

Health officials warned that the following weeks would be critical, and that California’s “peak” would could come as early as next week. A such, Californians have been urged to avoid shopping this week and limit time spent outside.

It is still unclear just how long current stay-at-home orders will last.
