Virus kills over 100 in Norwalk

NORWALK — Norwalk surpassed a grim coronavirus milestone, with official numbers reflecting over 100 lives lost within the city.

According to LA County Data, COVID-19 has infected 7,007 individuals and claimed 106 souls as of Wednesday morning.

This comes as the Southern California region faces a daunting shortage of ICU beds, with the county down to just under 2% availability.

There was – of course - a glimmer of hope during the week as California received over 33,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine with more on the way in the coming weeks. The vaccine is currently earmarked primarily for healthcare workers in acute-care hospitals.

Still, it could be a long while before the vaccine is widely available to all who want it.
