NORWALK — The City of Norwalk’s Public Safety Department invites the community to join forces with neighbors and law enforcement and take a stand against crime at National Night Out, in conjunction with the Summer Concert Series, this Wednesday, Aug. 7, at the Civic Center Lawn.

Residents can connect with Norwalk Sheriff’s Station, LA County Fire Department, California Highway Patrol and Metropolitan State Hospital Police and obtain valuable resource information and safety tips, as well as learn about collective efforts to improve quality of life in the city.

Also in attendance will be an LASD K-9 Unit and Mounted Posse Unit, and Rocky the Raccoon.

National Night Out also marks the official Nixle Roll Out Initiative, an effort to provide the community with emergency notification services. Residents can stop by the Norwalk Emergency Management Office booth to sign up to receive notifications, including emergency alerts and disaster information.

Registered participants will be eligible to receive first aid kits and disaster preparedness goodie bags.

The event’s live entertainment will be provided by the Grammy award-winning Mariachi Divas. Food vendors will be on site and children’s crafts, games and fingerprinting will be available.

The Norwalk Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a Business Expo, beginning at 4:30 p.m. providing the public an opportunity to meet a variety of local businesses and participate in free health screenings.

Held the first week of August, National Night Out is an annual public awareness campaign that promotes community-building and participation in local anti-crime efforts. For more information, call Public Safety at 562-929-5732.
